A series celebrating women, who since making the UAE their home, have brought about positive change

When fashion-lover Raheel Al Roudhan spotted a change in the way young women were dressing post-pandemic, she realised there was a gap in the market for a retail destination that catered for this shift, which involves mixing tailored luxury with more relaxed fits and styles.

Having just finished studying Visual Communication at Gulf University, Kuwait, she turned her attention to filling this gap herself by creating Fabric of Society. The one-stop online space is for women in the Middle East who want to shop everything from cult international brands such as Martine Rose and Nanushka to up-and-coming regional designers.

The founder, who now lives and works between Kuwait and the UAE, says, “I felt there was something missing in the Middle East – a luxury style destination that fused all of the many facets of a young woman’s wardrobe and that identified with her.”

Why has the brand been so successful with women in the UAE in particular? “I wanted the brand to feel personable from the beginning, one you could connect with, and I think women in the UAE feel this,” she notes. “Our buyers watch the UAE customer closely and we choose our brands and seasonal selections based on the way these women dress and shop. Our customer is at the heart of what we do.”
