Into the Horsescape: Hermès Jewellery Explores the Poetry of the Horse
For its ninth Haute Bijouterie collection, Into the Horsescape, Hermès Jewellery and its Creative Director Pierre Hardy present a masterful interpretation of the House's equestrian heritage, one where the horse is never explicitly portrayed, yet its presence resonates throughout every creation.
Rather than illustrating the animal, Hardy transforms its symbolism into sculptural jewellery, creating what he describes as a "metonymical collection" in which the horse is "barely seen, but its symbolism lives within each piece."

Movement is the collection's defining principle. Every jewel begins with a line that stretches, curves and returns to the body, creating pieces that appear alive. Horse bits evolve into fluid emerald-set necklaces in Étreintes, while Lasso Disco captures the dynamic twist of a lasso through precisely arranged baguette-cut diamonds. Étriers reinterprets the stirrup with refined geometric forms, while Attelage d'Or transforms bridles and harness buckles into luminous diamond creations that celebrate Hermès' origins as a saddler and harness-maker.

The collection also ventures into unexpected territory. Sellette draws inspiration from an eighteenth-century miniature saddle from the Émile Hermès Collection, meticulously recreated with black titanium, chiselled gold and diamonds. Centaure evokes the strength of a horse's hoof through bold contrasts of black jade, polished gold and invisible-set diamonds, while Clou de Forge Lumière elevates the humble horseshoe nail into radiant high jewellery. In Cavale, supple articulations recreate the movement of leather straps, and Galop Hermès is the only line where the horse itself finally emerges, rendered in sculptural form with striking gemstones.

Comprising ninety exceptional creations, Into the Horsescape is more than a high jewellery collection, it is an exploration of movement, memory and craftsmanship. Precious stones, sculptural volumes and extraordinary savoir-faire come together to create jewels that do not simply adorn the body but move with it, transforming Hermès' enduring equestrian identity into a contemporary expression of elegance.
