Tory Burch Balances Colour and Structure at New York Fashion Week

For Spring 2027, Tory Burch brought a sense of control to New York Fashion Week without allowing the collection to feel too precise. Structured coats and tailored jackets appeared alongside textured knitwear, soft skirts and unexpected colour combinations, creating a collection that moved easily between polish and personality.

Outerwear gave some of the clearest examples. A pale yellow double-breasted coat was cut with a generous, relaxed shape, its simple silhouette allowing the colour to do most of the work. Elsewhere, grey tailoring became more fitted. Jackets with defined waists, oversized patch pockets and contrasting buttons introduced a sharper mood, while turned-back cuffs kept the finish from feeling overly formal.

Colour returned in a more decorative way through the knitwear. Cardigans in green and red were covered with raised floral motifs in contrasting shades, transforming familiar shapes into some of the collection's most distinctive pieces. One green cardigan was paired with a pale blue midi skirt, while a red version sat against a softly crinkled gold skirt. Neither combination relied on traditional matching, which gave the looks a more individual feel.

Texture became particularly important here. The dimensional flowers, layered necklaces and feathered bags created movement against otherwise straightforward silhouettes. Instead of using embellishment everywhere, Burch concentrated it in certain pieces, allowing the quieter tailoring around them to feel even cleaner.

There was also a noticeable play between masculine and feminine references. Structured jackets borrowed from traditional tailoring, while narrow waists and knee-length proportions softened their shape. Midi skirts, pointed heels and decorative jewellery brought another layer of femininity without making the clothes feel overly delicate.

Accessories added personality throughout. Small leather bags appeared alongside more expressive styles finished with long strands of fringe, while necklaces were layered heavily around the neck. Pointed shoes with bows continued the contrast between practical dressing and more playful details.

What made Spring 2027 interesting was the way these opposites were allowed to sit together. A tailored grey jacket did not need much decoration, while a cardigan could become the centre of an entire look. Bright yellow could feel clean rather than loud, and soft skirts could sit comfortably beside sharper tailoring.

At New York Fashion Week, Tory Burch showed that polished dressing does not have to mean restrained dressing. Sometimes, a strong shape, an unexpected colour or one heavily textured piece is enough to change the mood completely.
