Dubai Design Week 2026: Everything to See and Do

Dubai Design Week returns to Dubai Design District (d3) from 3 to 8 November 2026 for its 12th edition, transforming the district into a city-wide celebration of design, architecture, craft and creative exchange. Alongside large-scale installations and exhibitions, visitors can take part in workshops, browse independent makers at the Marketplace and explore Downtown Design, the region’s leading contemporary design fair.

    Installations to See

This year’s outdoor programme turns d3’s public spaces into places to play, gather and pause. The Urban Commissions winner, Three Gardens and a Room by NAO Architects founded by Reem Nassour, reimagines the garden as a series of connected spaces shaped by shade, foliage, filtered light and thermal comfort, arranged around a central room for people to meet and observe.

ALTER’s Playing Field turns Ludo into an interactive space for shared play, while Nikken Sekkei and SOBOKUYA present CHATAI 2.0, a timber structure that combines Japanese craftsmanship with spaces for communal making. Emirati architect Rasha Saffarini’s Taqleem offers another highlight, reinterpreting the traditional practice of palm-tree trimming as a contemporary communal space rooted in Emirati craft and collective memory.

    Exhibitions Exploring Heritage

The festival’s exhibitions look at how design carries culture, memory and ideas forward. The UAE Designer Exhibition, supported by Dubai Culture and shaped by architect and designer AlZaina Lootah under the theme Inherited Futures, brings together UAE-based designers exploring how inherited materials, rituals and ways of making can be reinterpreted through contemporary design.

Abwab, Dubai Design Week’s flagship commissioning programme, also changes format this year, bringing together a group exhibition under the theme In Other Words. It explores how meaning is communicated through signage, symbols, interfaces, gestures and oral histories, using visual, spatial and sonic design.

Other standout exhibitions include Woods Bagot’s Worlds Ahead: 25 Years of Design, Place and Impact in the Middle East, L’ÉCOLE’s School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, exploring the lost Second Iron Age goldsmithing techniques, and Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children’s ceramics exhibition by young practitioners.

Downtown Design: The Fair to Browse

Downtown Design returns from 4 to 8 November as the headline event, bringing international and regional design brands to d3. Visitors can see work from Gaggenau, Venini, Ethimo and Kohler, alongside regional talent including Tashkeel’s Tanween Design Programme and the Athath Fellowship’s market-ready furniture prototypes.

The fair also includes immersive concepts worth seeing. A Memphis Milano exhibit celebrating the movement’s graphic patterns and unconventional forms, Buccellati’s mythology and water-inspired pop-up with British designer Luke Edward Hall, and Yinka Ilori’s colourful Veuve Clicquot Lounge.

    Exciting Activations

This year’s activations bring digital culture, technology and creative experimentation into the festival. Pinterest makes its Dubai Design Week debut, working with designers and artists to transform online inspiration and visual references into tangible, real-world experiences. Meanwhile, IQOS and new-media studio Ouchhh Collective present CURIOUS STUDIO, a new global platform debuting at Dubai Design Week, bringing together regional practitioners Karrouhat, HiFi, Cheb Moha and Abrar Zenkawi to explore the intersection of creative practice, culture and technology. In addition, Dubai Design Week’s Automotive Sponsor BMW Middle East returns with a design-led activation commissioned exclusively for the festival.

Interact, Learn, and Be Part of the Conversations

Visitors can get hands-on in the Maker Space, where workshops span a range of design disciplines and are open to professionals, aspiring creatives and curious participants of all ages. Sessions are led by practitioners and institutions, including the University of the Arts London, SAE University College, HKS Architects and Leica Camera. At Downtown Design, The Forum returns with live talks and keynotes, including renowned interior architect and designer Tristan Auer, alongside leading voices from the region’s design, architecture and creative industries.

    The Marketplace

The weekend Marketplace, taking place on 7 to 8 November, is a curated outdoor retail experience within d3 that celebrates homegrown businesses and independent makers from the UAE and across the region. Visitors can browse handmade homeware, jewellery, fashion, lifestyle items and sustainably made goods, alongside culinary experiences, children’s activities and live performances in a community-focused setting.
