From futuristic silhouettes to Old Hollywood glamour, the red carpet delivered at this year's British Academy Film Awards.

London became a crossroads of fashion and film on Sunday. Across the city, designers unveiled their latest collections for London Fashion Week, while just along the river at the Royal Festival Hall, stars gathered for the 79th British Academy Film Awards.

Often seen as Britain’s answer to the Oscars, the BAFTAs delivered their expected dose of glamour, sharp black tie, stunning gowns and high jewelry. Yet there was also a sense of theatre to the evening’s style. Teyana Taylor made an entrance in a dramatic “trench gown” by Burberry, while Posy Sterling wore a striking red cape dress by Gaurav Gupta that almost blended into the carpet beneath her. And in true British fashion, a certain bear’s signature blue duffle coat added a whimsical touch to the night.

As for the awards, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another became the evening’s major winner, leading with 14 nominations. Sinners followed closely with 13, while Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet entered the 2026 BAFTAs with 11 nominations, making history as the most-nominated film directed by a woman in the academy's history. Perhaps with the sizing of the nominations, it could give some indication of how Oscar voters could be leaning.

But as always, the Leading Actress nominees and attendees ensured the red carpet was as glamorous as the ceremony itself.

Here are the best looks of the night.

Alia Bhatt 

Alia Bhatt made her debut as a presenter at the 2026 BAFTAs in a custom Gucci gown designed by Demna. Her look channeled Old Hollywood, with A "liquid silver" floor-length dress constructed from hundreds of shimmering sequins and tiny microbeads over sheer tulle, similar to the iconic 1950s aesthetic inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

Emma Stone 

Emma Stone, who was nominated for her role in Bugonia, wore a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. The dress featured a halter neckline with a dramatic keyhole cutout at the front and a daring backless design. It also included a short train. She accessorized the gown with pieces from Louis Vuitton High Jewelry, specifically the Elan Vital bracelet and LV Diamond studs.

Chase Infiniti 

The double nominee for One Battle After Another, Chase Infiniti, wore a custom Louis Vuitton burgundy gown designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. Her look was one of the most talked about outfits during the night with its suspended, flower-shaped sculptural hemline. The hem was engineered to ripple outward in dramatic, 3D waves, giving the appearance of a "molten" or fanned-out finish as she moved.

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor stood out at the 2026 BAFTAs in a custom Burberry gown designed by creative director Daniel Lee. The look reworked the brand’s signature trench coat into a full-length, corseted dress in plum silk duchesse. She attended as a nominee for Best Supporting Actress for her role in One Battle After Another.

Gracie Abrams

Gracie Abrams wore a delicately beaded black Chanel gown from the house's 2026 Métiers d’Art collection, originally debuted in New York. The dress was floor-length and featured intricate, multi-colored floral embroidery throughout. 

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson, nominated for Best Leading Actress for her role in Song Sung Blue, leaned into "Old Hollywood" glamour. While much of the night’s palette focused on blues and greens, she opted for a striking custom Prada silk-satin gown in a deep scarlet. The dress featured an off-the-shoulder neckline and a geometric open back that transitioned into a corset-style waist. Unlike many of the structured, sculptural gowns of the night, hers had a more fluid, hip-accentuating skirt that flared into a subtle train. 

Kerry Washington 

Kerry Washington made her 2026 BAFTA debut in a custom Prada gown, choosing a sweeping midnight-blue design that embraced the “dark glamour” mood. The dress featured an apron-style bustier embellished with intricate 3D floral appliqué, sequins and delicate beadwork.
