Paris Fashion Week: The Return of Precision and Presence
Junaynah El Guthmy
Paris Fashion Week has always been fashion’s most poetic stage, but this season carried a different energy. Rather than chasing spectacle, many houses leaned into precision, restraint, and the quiet confidence of strong design.
At Hermès, the collection reaffirmed why the house remains synonymous with timeless luxury. The silhouettes were streamlined, the palette grounded in rich neutrals and deep leather tones. It was a masterclass in controlled elegance. Nothing felt excessive, yet every detail carried weight.

At Elie Saab, romance returned to the runway with the kind of glamour the designer has built his reputation on. Soft movement, intricate embellishment, and silhouettes that celebrate femininity reminded audiences why Saab remains a master of eveningwear.

Alexander McQueen delivered the dramatic intensity the house is known for. Sculptural tailoring and commanding silhouettes created a sense of strength and presence, a reminder that fashion can still hold emotional power when it embraces bold form and storytelling.

At Balenciaga, the collection continued the brand’s ongoing conversation around modern silhouettes and exaggerated proportions. Oversized outerwear and striking shapes reflected the house’s ability to constantly push the boundaries of contemporary fashion.

Meanwhile, Givenchy offered a refined balance between modern minimalism and classic couture codes. Clean lines, strong tailoring, and subtle drama gave the collection a polished sense of sophistication.

If there was a theme that emerged this week in Paris, it was clarity. Fashion, at its best, does not need to shout. And this season, the houses that resonated most were the ones that understood the power of design that speaks with confidence rather than noise.
