    Meet Madame: Kenza Naguib Jaidi

The founder of Moroccan fashion brand OSOUL discusses heritage craftsmanship and designing for the contemporary woman

Kenza Naguib Jaidi is the founder and creative director of OSOUL, a Moroccan fashion brand rooted in craftsmanship, identity and modern design. With a vision deeply connected to her heritage, she has built a label that reinterprets traditional Moroccan dress through a contemporary lens, creating pieces relevant to women today.

“OSOUL was born from my deep attachment to Moroccan heritage and my desire to reinterpret it in a modern, effortless way,” she says. “I wanted to create pieces that honour the soul of the caftan while fitting the lifestyle of today’s woman — elegant, free, international, yet proudly connected to her roots. For me, OSOUL is a tribute to Morocco, written in a contemporary language.”

A woman shaped by travel, culture and lived experience, Kenza draws inspiration from the world around her while remaining firmly connected to where she comes from. It is this balance that gives OSOUL its distinct voice. “For me, ‘roots’ means identity. It’s the connection to where I come from — the culture, the craftsmanship, the values that shaped me. Creatively, my roots are the foundation of OSOUL. They guide every piece I design and ensure that, even when I use global fabrics or modern cuts, the soul of Morocco is always present.”

OSOUL’s pieces carry the spirit of the Moroccan kaftan and jellaba but are reimagined for a contemporary woman who moves freely between worlds. The silhouettes are fluid, the construction intentional, and the result feels effortless and deeply considered. “For me, the balance comes naturally. I preserve the essence of Moroccan craftsmanship — the handwork, the textures, the authenticity — and I pair it with clean, modern silhouettes that feel effortless and contemporary. The result is a piece that carries the soul of Morocco but speaks the language of today’s woman.”

This connection to craftsmanship is deepened by OSOUL’s partnerships with artisans across Rabat, Fes and Marrakech, each region bringing its own identity, technique and history into the pieces. Every garment is handmade, often one-of-a-kind, and shaped by the hands that create it. “Each city has its own artisans, its own embroidery, its own soul and that’s the beauty of Moroccan craftsmanship. For me, it’s essential to let every region’s artistry shine through my pieces, so the talent of our artisans can live, travel, and be celebrated through OSOUL.”

It is also what defines the brand’s pace. In a fashion landscape driven by immediacy, Kenza has chosen a slower, more intentional path, that prioritises people, process and longevity. “Sustainability for me starts with intention. OSOUL works in small batches with local artisans and natural materials, with no overproduction. By keeping the process human, slow, and respectful, the brand grows without losing its values, quality over quantity, and people before profit.”

That philosophy extends beyond production into the very way the pieces are worn. OSOUL is size-free by design, reflecting the inclusive nature of traditional Moroccan dress, and allowing women to move comfortably within the garments. Travel, too, plays a quiet but important role in shaping Kenza’s creative lens. “Travel opens my eyes. Every place I visit — the colours, the textures, the women, the way people dress — becomes a source of inspiration. But no matter where I go, I bring everything back to Morocco. My travels add new ideas, but my roots give them meaning.”

There have been challenges, particularly in maintaining this level of craftsmanship in an industry that often demands speed. “The challenge is defending craftsmanship in a world that wants everything immediately. But I believe in time, in handwork, and in doing things properly. That’s the essence of OSOUL.”

And yet, there is a quiet confidence in the way the brand continues to evolve. It reflects a wider shift, too, as Moroccan fashion begins to find a stronger global presence. “Moroccan fashion is rising globally for its authenticity and craftsmanship. With OSOUL, I want to bring a modern, refined Moroccan voice to the world, one that honours Morocco and lets our artisans shine.”

For Kenza, the journey has also been deeply personal. Building OSOUL while navigating motherhood, creativity and business has shaped her in ways she did not anticipate. “OSOUL taught me that I can keep going even in difficult moments. Balancing creativity, business, motherhood and life showed me that my strength comes from my heart, my roots, and my ability to hold on to what truly matters.”

At the centre of it all is a sense of purpose, one grounded by the women she designs for and the life she is building around her. “My biggest inspiration is my son; his joy, his energy, and the way he naturally carries our Moroccan traditions. I’m also inspired by the everyday beauty of Morocco: the colours, the streets, and the people with such big hearts. And of course, by women around the world: their resilience, their grace, and their ability to turn challenges into strength. They inspire me to create with purpose and love.”

It is this combination, of intention, identity and craftsmanship that defines OSOUL, a brand shaped by its founder’s perspective and the heritage it continues to carry forward.
