Rooted in tradition, yet ever-evolving, the brand has earned its place as a timeless staple
As Birkenstock celebrates 250 years of craftsmanship, the brand unveils a sparkling new collection designed for the modern, empowered woman.
This year, the German icon celebrates the monumental quarter-millennial benchmark of its inception. With a family history of shoemaking that can be traced back to 1774, the brand has become a global institution celebrated for its distinctive blend of comfort and style.
Rooted in tradition, yet ever-evolving, Birkenstock has earned its place as a timeless staple, staying true to its ethos of prioritising craftsmanship, quality, and sustainability – all while ensuring its designs have become more and more fashion-forward. Birkenstock believes that how things are made matters as much as the product itself.
With the manufacture of all footbeds remaining in Germany, the company ensures the best quality materials and craftsmanship for all its products, in addition to focusing on providing the highest possible environmental and social standards. These core values have been key to the brand’s centuries-long success.
To celebrate this extraordinary anniversary, the family-founded firm has revealed a series of new books and digital projects that outline its extensive history in shoemaking and its journey from a humble shoemaker’s workshop to a global company. The story begins with The Book of Birkenstock, a hardback tome that offers a glimpse into the brand’s heritage and rich archive. Meanwhile, a digital encyclopedia provides an innovative, mobile-friendly digital archival experience of the brand.
The anniversary also makes way for the Nature in Cityscape campaign, featuring pieces from the brand’s striking High Shine collection. The campaign spotlights the stories of three successful women on the go in key cities worldwide, all relying on Birkenstock’s dependable craftsmanship to support their dynamic lifestyles.
Regardless of their location, their needs are all fulfilled by the new collection, which prioritises versatility and comfort.
The new designs feature Birkenstock’s signature buckle, strap, and contoured cork sole, but this time with a new polished redesign that adds a sense of style to the footwear and makes it suitable for all lifestyles.
The High Shine collection offers an elegant twist on Birkenstock’s timeless style and is preferred by busy women who want both comfort and a fashion-forward take on the brand’s hallmark shape. These are shoes for ladies who don’t have the time or the patience for high heels and prefer comfortable shoes that offer a quirky, fashionable appearance but don’t impact their ability to achieve their daily goals. Whether they are a multitasking mum, a jet-setting executive, or a creative entrepreneur working from home, these shoes have been designed to adapt.
Crafted from premium natural leather with a glossy patent coating, the shoes are available in an array of fashion-friendly colours, including sleek high-shine black, high-shine green tea, and the high-shine ecru shade. These radiant finishes and luxurious accents ensure that the shoes absolutely live up to their name – High Shine.
This new collection is a celebration of empowered women and the art of shoemaking. With its creative use of materials and excellent craftsmanship, Birkenstock honours its history of shoemaking and what it as a brand has come to stand for over the centuries – shoes that work as hard as the people who wear them.
