Dubai Design Week Returns with an Open Call for Its 2026 Edition

Returning to Dubai Design District (d3) from 3–8 November 2026, Dubai Design Week opens applications for creative practitioners to take part in one of the region’s most influential cultural events. Bringing together ideas, disciplines, and communities from across the Middle East and beyond, the festival continues to position design as a tool for connection, cultural exchange, and shaping more thoughtful futures.

At the centre of the programme is Downtown Design, the Middle East’s leading fair for contemporary design, returning from 4–8 November 2026. A key moment in the regional design calendar, the fair gathers international brands, global designers, and regional studios while supporting the local creative ecosystem through talks, events, and creative experiences.

Applications are now open across several initiatives and commissions. Among them is Abwab, the returning group exhibition that explores how language is communicated, interpreted, and remembered. Bringing together works across graphic design, typography, publishing, sound, and spatial practices, the exhibition expands the idea of language beyond words alone.

Also returning is Urban Commissions, an international open competition inviting architects and designers to propose new forms of urban infrastructure. The initiative explores how spatial design influences collective life in public spaces and considers how people move, interact, and experience cities shaped by speed, density, and constant stimulation.

The programme also includes the UAE Designer Exhibition at Downtown Design, presented with support from Dubai Culture. The curated showcase highlights UAE-based designers and studios, creating opportunities for visibility, mentorship, and commercial growth through engagement with international design leaders.

Additional opportunities include Installations, encouraging large-scale public interventions that prioritise community impact and responsible design principles, and Activations, inviting design-led brands, cultural institutions, educational programmes, and independent practitioners to collaborate through immersive experiences, pop-ups, cross-disciplinary projects, and special presentations.

With applications now open, Dubai Design Week 2026 once again positions itself as a platform where design extends beyond objects creating conversations, shaping experiences, and connecting creative communities across borders.
