Editor’s Letter: Stories That Matter
The past few months have reminded me about what truly matters. Navigating new realities while balancing work, family, and everyday life has been a journey, but through it all, working on this issue with my team became one of the most fulfilling parts of my days.
Creating meaningful stories, connecting with inspiring people, and continuing to grow the MADAME Arabia community reminded me how powerful creativity and human connection can be. One of the highlights of this season was our MADAME Arabia x The Edit event in Dubai, where we brought together such a beautiful and inspiring fashion community. Celebrating regional designers, supporting creativity from our region, and giving talented brands the opportunity to showcase their work felt incredibly special. Moments like these remind me how important it is to create spaces that bring people together.
Our cover story with iconic muse Farida Khelfa was especially inspiring. Khelfa represents a kind of freedom many women admire – fearless and completely unapologetic. One thing she said during her conversation with Rym Saidi stayed with me long after I read it – “Your difference is your strength.” Her story is a reminder that true freedom begins the moment we stop trying to fit into expectations created by others.
Another feature especially close to my heart is Clarity Amid the Noise, where we speak to three remarkable women, Julie Nguyen, Sara Al Arif, and Rani Ilmi, about what living in the UAE means to them. Its’ a reminder on the importance of consistency, faith, and simply continuing to move forward.
That same spirit of optimism also comes through beautifully in our interview with designer Mira Mikati, whose contagious positivity feels especially refreshing today. Her belief that “happiness is a choice” is a great reminder to have space for joy, softness, and playfulness in our lives – and to not take life too seriously!
We also meet Agata Kurzela, the interior designer behind some of the Zayed National Museum’s most spectacular spaces. Her work reflects not only creativity and precision, but also the incredible cultural evolution happening across the UAE today.
From exploring the evolving interior design scene in the UAE and beyond, to celebrating musical voices from the region, this issue is filled with conversations rooted in culture and creativity.
We also take you to the streets of Beirut through a beautiful shoot created with designers from Creative Space Beirut – a story filled with resilience, beauty, and hope. As summer begins soon, I hope this issue inspires you to protect your peace and make time for the things that truly fill your soul.
Here’s to a summer of beautiful travels, meaningful connections, and moments of stillness that bring you back to yourself.
With love,
Cynthia Kattar
