Under the stars of the Giza Plateau, Egypt gave the world a night to remember

The long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum was nothing short of cinematic, a breathtaking celebration of heritage, artistry, and national pride.

The evening beautifully connected Egypt’s rich history with its dynamic present. From surprise appearances to the warm welcome extended by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi, the event highlighted Egypt’s timeless heritage alongside its modern spirit. Egypt’s First Lady stunned in a gown embroidered with gold Egyptian hieroglyphs motifs by Egyptian designer Marmar Halim.

Sherihan: The return of an icon

Nothing prepared us (or the internet) for the surprise return of Egypt’s beloved diva, Sherihan. The Egyptian icon stunned in a golden, shimmering custom-made gown by Elie Saab, designed exclusively for the occasion. Embroidered in Pharaonic motifs and crafted in Italy, the gown was a masterpiece of craftsmanship that fit for an icon like Sherihan. She captivated the audience not only with her beauty but with the strength and talent that made her a true legend.

    Homage to ancient queens

In a segment that paid tribute to the ancient queens, Egyptian Actresses Salma Abu Deif and Huda Al Mufti breathtakingly channelled ancient Egyptian queens. The Egyptian stars turned heads in shimmering gold gowns by Fouad Sarkis and elegant headpieces, looking every bit like ancient queens.

Rising star Yasmina Al Abd took centre stage with a beautiful speech, embodying the hopes and dreams of Egypt’s youth. At nineteen, she enchanted the crowd with charisma and poise, glowing in a cream embroidered gown by Egyptian designer Nour Azazy. Her look was perfectly complemented by statement lotus earrings from Nados Jewellery, a nod to Egypt’s ancient symbols.

The night also featured captivating performances by soprano Fatma Said, Broadway star Shereen Ahmed, and Haneen Elshater, the victorious voice of X Factor Arabia 2023.

Queen Rania & Queen Mary display royal elegance

Among the dazzling attendees were royals whose fashion choices echoed the evening’s grandeur. Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan has once again turned heads with her impeccable style, stepping out in a striking in a red Dolce & Gabbana mid-length ensemble.

The Jordanian Queen looked effortlessly regal in her chic ensemble with white heels and a matching clutch, a subtle nod to Egypt’s flag that perfectly captured her flair for diplomatic dressing. The Queen’s youngest daughter, HRH Princess Salma, was a vision of understated elegance in a sleek ALAÏA black midi dress, paired with gold heels and a matching clutch.

Equally magnificent, Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark was a vision of easy elegance at the Grand Egyptian Museum opening. The Queen of Denmark opted for a white lace ensemble by Zimmermann. Paired with light-blue accessories and diamond earrings.
