Designer Lana El-Khalil’s KAĪYA Blends Fashion with Purpose

KAĪYA Turns Fashion Into a Force for Sustainability and Humanitiarian Work

In a world where fashion is defined by fast cycles and factory floors, KAĪYA was built on a radically different premise: that a garment should carry a story worth wearing. Rooted in slow fashion and ethical craftsmanship, the Lebanese label partners with artisans and vulnerable communities, providing fair wages, dignity, and a livelihood grounded in skill.

Founded by Lana El Khalil, KAĪYA operates with complete transparency, using deadstock and recycled fibers, where available, to challenge the excess of an industry that produces more than the planet can sustain. Each piece is created with longevity in mind, guided by a simple philosophy: make less and make it matter.

Each collection begins far before the atelier, in the bustling corners of local markets across the world. From handwoven textiles to traditional prints, fabrics are sourced not just for their beauty, but for their history. hey are then reimagined into fluid silhouettes that move with the body - soft, feminine, and instinctively sensual.

“KAĪYA is not just something you wear,” says Lana El Khalil. “It’s something you feel. A connection to the hands that made it, to the land it came from, and to your own body.” The brands commitment to its artisans does not end when the last stitch is sewn. At the end of each collection, the fabric scraps that cannot be repurposed into new garments are not discarded, they are transformed into something far more valuable. Cut into small squares, these pieces become teaching tools for children at refugee camps, as they are guided through the art of sewing.

The brand is extending that mission beyond the human. Lana El Khalil has launched a fundraiser through a limited-edition hoodie collection, with 100% of profits going directly to Animals Lebanon, an NGO dedicated to rescuing and protecting animals in conflict zones. A heartfelt homage to the South, the hoodies are available exclusively at www.kaiyaearth.com. “We are not just selling a product; we are inviting our community to participate in a structural shift,” El Khalil continues to state. “When you wear KAĪYA, you carry the story of a woman who has rebuilt her life through her craft.”

Operating outside the traditional fashion calendar, continues to minimize its environmental impact while redefining conscious design. The brand calls this ethos “Modern Sustainable Essentialism”, where ethics and aesthetics exist in equal measure. Beyond sustainability, KAĪYA exists in the space where sensuality meets storytelling, and where fabric, form, and feeling intertwine.

The brand will also be hosting a pop-up in Lagos, Nigeria on April 11 at Vici Lagos from 3-6pm, offering a physical touchpoint for the community to experience KAĪYA’s pieces and mission firsthand.
