Louis Vuitton first ever makeup collection by Pat McGrath is here and it’s beautiful

But could it change the landscape of luxury beauty?

The news spread quickly when Louis Vuitton announced it was going to be starting a beauty line. A brand synonmous with luxury and with none other than Dame Pat McGrath at the helm, expectations were high. Excited devotees of the Maison patiently waited until this week, when, after much anticipation, the brand's first ever makeup line was released.

La Beauté Louis Vuitton comprises 55 richly pigmented lipsticks in satin and matte finishes, 10 hydrating lip balms, and eight compact eyeshadow quads. Naturally, each product comes housed in sophisticated, refillable packaging which has been carefully embossed with iconic LV monograms. Crafted by industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, she drew inspiration from the Maison’s historic trunks.

With McGrath involved, it's no surprise the formulations go beyond cosmetics, blending beauty with skincare. Ingredients include shea butter, hyaluronic acid, camellia oil and even upcycled floral waxes.

Set to launch in select Louis Vuitton boutiques and online on August 29, the line will cater to a niche market of discerning beauty fans. The pricing reflects its premium positioning, with lipsticks and balms at Dhs615 (with refills at Dhs260), and eyeshadow palettes at Dhs960 (refillable at Dhs350) which makes it some of the most expensive makeup on the market.

Could Louis Vuitton's new era redefine the luxury beauty space? Only time will tell...
