With academic credentials from New York University (NYU) and the London School of Economics (LSE), she has transformed a personal need into an internationally recognised brand that is changing the way consumers think about luxury.
For Angana Maheshwari, luxury has never been about excess, it's about purpose. As the Founder and CEO of Veganologie, the Dubai-born sustainable accessories brand, she is reshaping the fashion industry by proving that beautiful design and ethical responsibility can go hand in hand.

"Every city I've lived in has left a part of itself with me," she says. "What all of these places taught me collectively is that sustainability isn't a Western concept or a niche movement, it's a universal value."
Veganologie was born from a personal frustration. Unable to find a stylish, durable handbag made from genuinely sustainable materials, Maheshwari decided to create one herself.
"I wasn't looking for anything extraordinary, just a bag that ticked every box. No greenwashing, no compromises," she recalls. "If the product I wanted didn't exist, perhaps I was meant to be the one to create it."

Launching a fashion brand during the pandemic without any background in manufacturing was no easy feat. Yet, rather than seeing her lack of experience as a disadvantage, she turned it into an opportunity to learn.
"I researched, I asked questions, I made mistakes and course corrected," she says. "Every material had to be certified. Every manufacturer had to be audited. There were no shortcuts."
Today, Veganologie is recognised for combining innovative materials, such as plant-based leathers, with luxury craftsmanship. For Maheshwari, sustainability isn't an addition to the design process, it's where every collection begins.
"Sustainability and luxury were never meant to be in conflict," she explains. "True luxury isn't about excess; it's about longevity."
While the brand has earned international recognition, including the Global Changemakers Award and invitations to leading sustainability platforms, Maheshwari believes the greatest achievements are found in customer stories rather than accolades.
"I started Veganologie because I believed something better was possible, a product that didn't ask you to choose between beauty and responsibility."

At the heart of Veganologie is a simple belief: luxury and sustainability should never be seen as opposites. Maheshwari has built the brand on the idea that conscious fashion can be both elegant and uncompromising, with every collection beginning not with design, but with innovation. Using certified materials such as apple leather and tea-leaf leather, paired with exceptional craftsmanship, Veganologie demonstrates that true luxury lies in quality, longevity, and thoughtful design. As Maheshwari puts it, "Sustainability and luxury were never meant to be in conflict... true luxury isn't about excess; it's about longevity."

"Start. Just start. Conscious choices don't have to be perfect, they just have to be intentional," she says. "You don't need to overhaul your life overnight. She believes that meaningful change begins with small, consistent actions. "Small, intentional choices made consistently are how individuals change industries.
