From buttercup yellow to timeless nautical influences, Princess Kate embraces the season’s hottest trends

On Thursday, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the official naming ceremony of the Royal Navy’s latest warship, HMS Glasgow.

Following her stunning return to the royal spotlight at the Palace Garden Party on 20 May, Princess Catherine, 43, made another elegant public appearance alongside her husband, Prince William.

As the ship's official sponsor, the Princess looked effortlessly elegant in a navy and white nautical-inspired coat dress by Suzannah London. The impeccably tailored ensemble paid a subtle homage to 1990s vintage couture, a nod the designer confirmed was a key inspiration behind the look.

We couldn’t help but notice that the Princess was subtly channelling her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who wore a blue-and-white Catherine Walker suit and matching hat in 1993 while attending a service in Liverpool, England, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II.

The Princess of Wales completed her look with the same blue and white Philip Treacy hat she previously wore to Trooping the Colour in 2022, adding a further heartfelt tribute to Diana by wearing the late royal’s sapphire and diamond drop earrings.
