Quiet luxury on the Red Sea: Inside Saudi Arabia’s first EDITION Resort

The Red Sea EDITION marks a new era of hospitality in the Kingdom

Some hotels have star quality sewn into the seams of their fabric, embedded in their architectural designs, and written into people’s minds long before opening. The Red Sea EDITION is one of these elusive projects.

The first hotel to open on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, this latest outpost of the EDITION brand introduces a new kind of luxury to the Kingdom’s western coastline.

Reaching the resort feels cinematic. After touching down at the Red Sea International Airport (a sculptural marvel shaped by desert and sea), guests cross Saudi Arabia’s longest internal bridge before arriving at a series of low-lying stone and timber pavilions that seem to rise organically from the white sand. Designed by the Rockwell Group, the architecture has been kept deliberately simple to draw the eye to its surroundings. Picture turquoise water, coral formations, and the vast horizon beyond.

Set along a kilometre of private beachfront, The Red Sea EDITION is part of a larger vision for Shura Island, which will soon host a curated collection of world-class resorts, a marina, and Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course.

The wider destination sits within an archipelago of more than 90 untouched islands, bordered by one of the world’s most significant barrier reefs.

Inside, the hotel’s 240 rooms and suites reflect the hospitality marque’s signature aesthetic of understated elegance. Coral stone floors, natural oak, and soft neutral tones blur the boundary between indoors and out, while select suites offer private plunge pools and direct beach access.

Luxury here is quiet, almost meditative. Social energy flows through the heart of the resort, particularly at JIWA Beach Club, where Indonesian-led cuisine, music, and fire-lit evenings bring warmth and rhythm to the shoreline.

Dining venues across the property balance wellness and indulgence, each menu guided by seasonal ingredients and thoughtful preparations. Soon, ANASA (led by Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji) will add an Aegean-inspired layer to the culinary journey.

Wellness is also woven seamlessly into the experience, from hydrothermal rituals and restorative
spa treatments, to outdoor movement across sea, sand, and desert trails.

More than a hotel, The Red Sea EDITION marks a new era of hospitality in the Kingdom.
