How Dubai-resident Rozina Stefan co-founded and built furniture brand Loom Collection

In pursuit of mindful interiors, she created a brand focusing on sustainability and storytelling

Born from a desire to craft calming interiors in the UAE, Loom Collection was founded by Rozina Stefan in Dubai in 2019.

The homegrown brand blends contemporary design with sustainable values. In this interview, Rozina shares the inspiration behind Loom Collection and how storytelling and materiality guide her creative process.

Loom Collection blends modern design with sustainability. What inspired you to build a brand rooted in both aesthetic and environmental values?

Loom Collection was born from a desire to create spaces that feel grounded, natural and deeply connected to the environment we live in. Living in the Middle East, we spend a significant amount of time indoors due to the climate, so it felt instinctive to make those indoor moments as calming and organic as possible. We were drawn to timeless designs made from sustainable, natural materials that echo the beauty of the desert or the coastline; think linen textures, soft neutral palettes and shapes that speak the same architectural language as modern Dubai.

What started as a personal pursuit to curate beautiful, mindful interiors soon evolved into Loom Collection, a brand that brings these globally resonant, yet regionally relevant designs together under one thoughtful, cohesive umbrella.

How does storytelling influence your design process and what kind of narrative are you hoping to share through your collections?

Storytelling is central to how we curate and design at Loom Collection. Each piece we curate or create is part of a larger dialogue, a narrative about living more consciously, finding beauty in simplicity and surrounding ourselves with things that carry meaning. The rhythm of real life shapes our collections: the shift of seasons, the calm of quiet moments, the grounding presence of natural textures. Through our use of earthy materials and refined silhouettes, we aim to inspire a sense of pause and presence in the home. That story became even more tangible when we opened our studio in Dubai Investment Park in January 2021, offering a physical space where clients can feel the essence of Loom and experience the quiet luxury of our collections firsthand.

Can you walk us through how you source materials and collaborate with artisans to bring your vision to life?

Bringing each collection to life begins with a respect for natural materials and a deep appreciation for purposeful design. We collaborate with artisans and producers worldwide who share our values of quality, integrity and craftsmanship. Personally, I focus on curating and adapting designs that resonate with the pace and palette of life in our region, selecting elements like FSC-certified woods, hand-finished marbles and soft, breathable linens that feel as good as they look. We've often heard from interior designers that our pieces strike a rare balance: they’re aesthetically refined yet designed to be lived with. Each choice reflects our commitment to timelessness, emotional connection and a more grounded way of living.

But behind every piece that arrives in our studio is a quiet engine of dedication. Brad, my partner and co-founder, ensures our vision becomes reality by navigating the complexities of logistics, sourcing and production with calm precision. It’s a shared journey: I bring the design voice, he brings the operational rhythm, and together we shape collections that are as thoughtful in process as they are in presence.

As a Dubai-based brand, how do you see the region shaping or responding to the global conversation around sustainable and conscious living?

There’s definitely a growing appetite for more meaningful, mindful design. When we first launched in 2019, it felt like we were pushing against the grain. But now, I see more people looking for pieces that reflect their lifestyle and values. The idea of slow living, of curating a home that’s calm and intentional, is really resonating here. And as a brand based in Dubai, we feel a responsibility to help lead that movement. By offering furniture that is sustainably made and emotionally considered, we’re contributing to a broader cultural shift around how we live and what we invest in.

What’s next for Loom Collection? Are there any upcoming collaborations, design launches, or international plans you can share?

We’re in an exciting phase of growth. One of the biggest milestones on the horizon is our expansion into Saudi Arabia, where we’re seeing strong interest in our aesthetic and philosophy. Earlier this year, we also expanded our Dubai studio to better serve our growing community and provide a more immersive experience for clients. We’re working on several seasonal edits that reflect our continued commitment to slow interiors, functional beauty and versatile living. Our studio remains a space where we connect deeply with our clients and we’re exploring how to replicate that personalised experience in other cities. As we grow, our mission stays the same: to design and curate pieces that feel good to live with and stand the test of time.
