From archival Armani to refined Celine tailoring, these are the red-carpet looks that have caught our attention at the Venice Film Festival so far. 

We are only a few days into the Venice Film Festival, but the red carpet has already delivered plenty of memorable fashion moments. While classic black have made their appearance as usual, this year’s best looks so far have also brought vintage glamour, shimmering metallics, dramatic tailoring and plenty of unexpected details. 

From Kendall Jenner making her Venice debut in archival Giorgio Armani to Raya Abirached bringing a rich touch of burgundy to the carpet, these are the looks we can't stop thinking about. 

Kendall Jenner 

Kendal Jenner made her Venice Film Festival red-carpet debut in vintage Giorgio Armani, choosing a simmering gold dress from the house’s Fall/Winter 1995 collection. Covered in intricate floral beading with delicate crystals framing the neckline, the fitted silhouette allowed the detailing to take centre stage. 

Phoebe Waller-Bridge 

Proof that red carpet dressing does not always have to mean a gown, Phoebe Waller-Bridge opted for custom Celine at the Wild Horse Nine premiere. Wide leg black trousers paired with a flowing ivory cape blouse, complete with a long necktie and dramatic draping that moved behind her as she walked. 

Rebecca Donaldson 

Rebecca Donaldson brought full red-carpet glamour to the festival’s opening ceremony in a custom Armani Prive gown. The strapless column dress was covered in micro-sequins of platinum, silver and rose gold with fine metallic fringe catching the light as she moved. Bulgari Serpenti jewellery added another layer of sparkle without competing with the dress. 

Alessandra Ambrosio 

Alessandra Ambrosio took a different approach to the classic black gown with a custom Intimissimi look built around corsetry. A structured silk corset and wide waist detail created definition through the bodice before giving way to a softly draped floor length skirt. 

Rooney Mara 

Few people make black quite as interesting as Rooney Mara. The actress wore a custom Louis Vuitton slip dress that initially appeared beautifully simple before finishing with an exaggerated sculpted hem made from gathered rosette-like folds.

Vittoria Ceretti 

Vittoria Ceretti continued the run of the black gowns in Giorgio Armani Prive, but hers came with a more delicate twist. The black velvet column silhouette was contrasted by a sheer crystal-embellished neckline, creating a balance between classic evening wear and something more contemporary. Boucheron earrings and Crivelli bracelets completed the look. 

Raya Abirached 

Lebanese television presenter Raya Abirached brought some much-needed colour to the red carpet in a deep burgundy off-the-shoulder down. The fitted silhouette was kept sleek and refined, while long ribbon ties falling from the shoulder created movement and drama as she walked. She completed the look with Cartier jewellery and Roger Vivier heels.
