The Princess of Wales Brings Regal Glamour to the BAFTAs in Vintage Gucci

Attending for the first time in three years, Kate Middleton looked like a ballerina in her floaty mauve dress that matched Prince William's burgundy suit

The Princess of Wales made a glamorous return to the red carpet on Saturday evening, attending the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Appearing alongside Prince William, President of BAFTA, it marked her first appearance at the ceremony in three years following her cancer diagnosis and recovery.

For the evening, Kate chose to wear a bespoke Gucci gown which she first wore in 2019. The dress, which featured soft blush and rose-pink tones, perfectly captured her signature blend of romance and refinement.

The design featured layers of finely pleated tulle that moved lightly as she walked, complemented by an off-the-shoulder neckline and an intricately rushed bodice that flowed into a sweeping skirt. A defined waist and shoulder-grazing V-shaped structure added shape to the romantic silhouette.

She paired the gown with a burgundy velvet Prada “Raso” clutch and platinum lamé “Cabrina” pumps by Oscar de la Renta, striking the right balance between softness and shimmer.

The Princess completed the look with diamond jewellery from the royal collection, including the Greville Diamond Chandelier Earrings, a wedding gift to the then Princess Elizabeth in 1947, and Queen Mary’s Art Deco Choker Bracelet, originally designed by Cartier as a necklace.

The overall effect was soft and ethereal as she walked the red carpet with grace, her blush-toned gown pairing seamlessly with Prince William’s burgundy suit.

The Princess first wore the gown in 2019 at a gala dinner at the V&A Museum in support of Mentally Healthy Schools, in her role as patron of 100 Women in Finance’s Philanthropic Initiatives.

The BAFTAs have long been a stage for some of Kate’s most memorable fashion moments, and this year was no exception - graceful, composed and unmistakably her.
