From sculptural silhouettes to romantic florals, Spring 2027 is making a convincing case for dressing up again.

For Spring 2027, eveningwear is anything but one-dimensional. Across the collections, designers are approaching the evening dress from completely different directions, moving between sweeping ball gowns, delicate sheer layers, sculptural silhouettes and a renewed interest in embellishment.

There is still plenty of glamour, but it feels less concerned with following one particular formula. At Harris Reed, eveningwear becomes almost architectural, while Ralph Lauren takes a much softer approach. Elsewhere, Alice + Olivia leans fully into fantasy and Reem Acra proves there is still room for unapologetic occasion dressing.

These are the Spring 2027 evening dresses that caught our attention.

Alice + Olivia

Fantasy was at the heart of Stacey Bendet's Spring 2027 collection for Alice + Olivia, which looked to Alice in Wonderland and placed dresses firmly at the centre of the season. Intricate prints, embroidery and elaborate florals appeared throughout, including a series of maximalist garden-inspired pieces. 

One of the standouts is a sweeping pale-blue ball gown covered in an intricate floral design. Its fitted bodice gives way to an exaggerated full skirt, allowing the detailed fabric of the dress to become the focus. Romantic without feeling overly traditional, it captures the collection's sense of escapism perfectly.

Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera's 45th anniversary collection revisited many of the house signatures that have defined it over the decades, with Wes Gordon drawing on everything from polka dots to crisp shirting and dramatic evening silhouettes. 

Among the evening looks, a sheer black gown is interrupted by an oversized powder-blue bow tied at the waist. It is a simple idea executed on a dramatic scale, balancing the softness of the transparent fabric and ruffled neckline with a single piece of exaggerated volume. It feels unmistakably glamorous, but with enough playfulness to stop it becoming predictable.

Harris Reed

Harris Reed took a noticeably stripped-back approach for Spring 2027. Almost the entire collection appeared in white, with Reed describing the concept as an almost ghostly interpretation of his previous seasons. 

The restraint in colour only makes the silhouettes more striking. A white floor-length gown features a dramatic sculptural neckline extending outwards from the body, transforming the dress into something closer to wearable architecture. There is very little distraction from the shape itself, proving that an evening dress does not need colour or embellishment to command attention.

Huishan Zhang

Craftsmanship continues to sit at the centre of Huishan Zhang's work. For Spring 2027, his evening wear included intricate embellishment, sequined florals, delicate tulle and lace alongside more tailored propositions. 

A pale green evening gown brings that attention to detail into focus. With its shimmering floral surface, long sleeves and full skirt, the dress feels romantic without being overly delicate. A small bow at the waist and flower worn at the ear add to its femininity, while the metallic finish gives the traditional silhouette a more contemporary edge.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren's Spring 2027 collection balanced its signature polished style with softer, more romantic eveningwear. Flowing fabrics, delicate florals and sheer finishes gave the collection a lighter feel, especially in its dresses

For evening, that romance appears in a sheer floor-length floral gown that feels considerably lighter than some of the season's grander propositions. Rather than relying on volume or structure, the dress falls softly around the body, with delicate florals appearing almost faded into the fabric. It is evening dressing at its most effortless.

Reem Acra

If others are experimenting with what an evening dress can be, Reem Acra remains committed to the pleasure of dressing up. For Spring 2027, the designer once again placed glamorous gowns at the heart of the collection, introducing a softer pastel palette alongside details such as removable trains and sashes that allow pieces to shift between different levels of formality. 

A turquoise strapless gown makes the case beautifully. The clean, structured bodice is decorated with colourful floral embellishment before opening into a full skirt with dramatic side volume. Set against the collection's ornate presentation, it feels almost jewel-like. It is glamorous in the most traditional sense, and proof that sometimes an evening dress does not need reinventing to feel exciting.

Taken together, Spring 2027's evening dresses suggest that there is no longer one definition of occasion dressing. The season can be romantic, sculptural, theatrical or quietly delicate, but across all six collections there is a shared willingness to make the dress itself feel special again.
