THUNA Madas SS26: Where Culture Meets Contemporary Design
THUNA introduces Madas Summer 2026: Heritage, Her Way, a collection that revisits one of the Arabian Peninsula’s most enduring silhouettes through a contemporary lens. Inspired by the traditional Gulf madas, the backless leather slipper long shaped by movement, climate, and everyday life, the collection does not seek to recreate the original, but to reinterpret its essence for the modern Arab woman.

Rooted in functionality and quiet craftsmanship, the original madas was defined by its flexible sole, backless construction, and signature toe loop. With Madas SS26, THUNA preserves these defining elements while refining everything around them through softer materials, updated proportions, and a more elevated approach to everyday dressing.

A palette of sand, terracotta, chocolate, bronze, and cream draws directly from the landscapes that inspired the original silhouette, now reimagined for modern routines, city life, and contemporary gatherings.
“The madas was shaped by function, climate, and culture. It said what it needed to say through craft,” says Altaf Almudhayan. “Not the object itself, but the essence behind it.”

The collection includes 19 shoes and 3 bags across seven styles. At its centre is Naya, the toe-loop flat available in tan, blue, black, and grey, while Badia introduces a refined reinterpretation of the silhouette through a subtle kitten heel in cream and bronze.
Crafted across suede, leather, canvas, and satin, the collection presents heritage not as something preserved, but as something continuously worn and redefined.
