From Paris to Tokyo: Why UAE jet-setters are choosing global fashion capitals

86% now choose destinations for their fashion culture, Skyscanner finds
For those travelling from the UAE, fashion is becoming more important than just the looks inside their case. A sartorial pursuit is fast becoming the reason they book the trip in the first place.

New data released by Skyscanner reveals that 86 percent of UAE adults who like to travel and have an interest in fashion now choose destinations based on a city’s style culture. It’s a shift that reflects a global trend where travel and fashion are becoming on pursuit.

The survey, conducted with OnePoll, highlights how younger travellers in particular are rewriting the rules. One in two Gen Zs actively seek out local designers when abroad, while 77 percent of respondents use social media to scout out a city’s fashion scene before they go. Half take their inspirational cues from influencers and glossy magazines, confirming the link between digital consumption and the modern traveller.

Unsurprisingly, Europe (69 percent) and Asia (63 percent) are the top style-driven destinations for UAE residents, but Dubai itself ranked second only to Paris as the city with the “most stylish people.” A resounding 82 percent believe Dubai is the region’s streetwear and new talent hub, followed by Abu Dhabi.
Skyscanner has a new Savvy Search feature which allows people to find the best time to book flights to the world’s most stylish cities.
